Supercapacitor minimum rated voltage

Hello,

in the datasheet for this supercapacitor (LIB1840Q4R0118 CDA (Zhifengwei Technology) | Capacitors | DigiKey), it lists a minimum rated voltage of 2.5V. What’s the need to have a minimum voltage for a capacitor? What could go wrong if a capacitor is discharged below a certain threshold?

Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum. This is a lithium ion super capacitor so discharging below the minimum voltage rating can cause serious damage and/or short circuit. See the last page of the datasheet and read through the warnings for this product.
