Simple question: is this transducer supposed to buzz at 2,400Hz when connected to 5V or is there additional circuitry required to make it sing?

The “Driver Circuitry” attribute for TE122405-6 communicates this. Devices with a value of “Transducer, Externally Driven” are similar to a standard speaker, requiring an external circuit for waveform generation. They will not make noise with application of a simple DC voltage.
