A thermoelectric (TE) module, or Peltier assembly, is a semiconductor-based device that moves heat from one side of the device to the other when low voltage DC power is applied. One face of the module is cooled while the opposite face is heated. This phenomenon is reversed with a change in polarity of the DC voltage. A TE module can generate current when a temperature differential is applied. They are differentiated by heat transfer type, cooling power, current, voltage, and overall dimensions.
Size / Dimension: The physical dimensions of the device. Typically length X width.
Qmax @ Th: The maximum thermal flux the device can move under conditions of zero temperature differential and hot-side temperature as indicated.
Delta Tmax @ TH: Maximum achievable temperature differential across the device, at the indicated hot-side temperature and zero cold-side heat transfer.
Height: Indicates the total thickness of the part.
Number of Stages: Indicates the number of Peltier modules that are combined into a single part.
Current - Max: Typically this represents the maximum current to which a device will meet its given specifications. Exceeding this current may damage the device and/or other system components.
Voltage - Max: The maximum voltage appearing across a device, commonly measured at the indicated maximum temperature difference and a hot-side temperature near 27°C.
Resistance: Characterizes the nominal resistance of a current path through a device.
Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
Features: These are different capabilities or properties of the device such as lead wires or sealed.
