Thyristor Application Notes

Sometime prior to its acquisition in 2003 by Littelfuse, a company named Teccor produced a series of application notes on thyristor devices (Triacs, SCRs, and similar) which have been found to be of unique value.

As a technical resource, they present well-rounded guidance for selection and application of devices in a class that may receive only passing mention in modern academic programs, consequent to the products’ becoming less technically fashionable over time.

Beyond this facial purpose, they are also thought to be of exemplary value as a model of what high-quality technical content in the electronic component space looks like. Authored during a golden age of communication in the industry when bandwidth was becoming cheap but participants were still habituated to communicating as if doing so cost something, the information density, depth, and conceptual transferability embodied in these documents is recommended for study to persons interested in developing technical content that is of value to technical audiences.

While still accessible via the Littelfuse resource library at the time of writing, their discovery by persons not already aware of their existence seems increasingly unlikely. It is hoped that their inclusion here will aid their preservation and exposure.
