If you have experienced an issue with the insulation jacket of a 5854/7 SL001 wire from Alpha Wire retracting during the stripping process and have concerns about its usability, please refer to the information below from Alpha Wire.
This is not a defect. It is a characteristic of the wire’s jacket material, Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which has non-stick properties.
PTFE offers excellent heat resistance and other advantages, but due to its low coefficient of friction, the insulation can sometimes retract during the stripping process. This behavior is inherent to the material and is not considered a defect.
