Vishay is a well established supplier of many varities of passive components, including their CCF07 Series of industrial metal film resistors. We’ve had a few questions recently concerning the power rating for these devices; our product detail pages list them as a half-watt, but supplier documentation often lists them as a quarter-watt instead. Is this an error somewhere, are these products half or quarter watt?
The answer is, funnily enough, both. Per the product’s datasheet, the device has two power ratings. When used as a half-watt resistor its stability slips a little bit, compared to being used as a quarter-watt resistor. The series can withstand half a watt, but performs better at a quarter or below.
