Regarding the prefix differences (MC68HC908 vs. MC908), Freescale (now NXP) began to omit the “68HC” portion apparently just to save characters/space in part numbers, so that part is not significant.

The “A” in the MC908QY4ACDWE part number refers to some enhancements to the part over the non-“A” versions. These enhancements are described in Appendix A, starting on page 191 of the datasheet.

The other difference in your specific part numbers is package type:

MC68HC908QY4CDTE 16-TSSOP
