------Question for MAX40242ANA+ Please Put your question below------
Hi,
Can you please explain why the MAX40242ANA+ has been discontinued at DigiKey but why you still continue to carry the similar part MAX40242ANA+T ? These are virtually the same part so I was concerned why the ANA+ version was discontinued? Was this discontinued through the manufacture or for another reason only at DigiKey or please advise.
Thanks
Robert
The part was probably discontinued at DigiKey because of the package type. The MAX40242ANA+ comes as parts in a carrier strip from the manufacture and sometimes may come on a reel or in a bag. The part MAX40242ANA+T is a tape and reel part, at DigiKey if a customer wants to order 10 pieces the can still get a strip of 10 as cut-tape.

It is a difference in how we got these shipped to us.
The MAX40242ANA+ was shipped either in strips or tubs
The MAX40242ANA+T is shipped to us in tape and reel.
Thanks. Do you know of any or have access to info that my show any kind of obsolescence from the manufacturer about this part that may be related to your discontinued, or in other words: does DigiKey show you why an actual discontinued status in your system occurred for this part? I’m concerned because we don’t want to use a part that may be inactive in a year or so.
Thanks
Hello robert.desmond,
There is no indication, that this part, is going obsolete.
I also checked on the manufacture’s website, and it says the part is listed as “Production”.
So it is a currently produced product.
To determine the life cycle, or any plans for obsolescence, it is best to contact the manufacture directly.
To clarify, we (DigiKey) discontinued the MAX40242ANA+, not Analog Devices.
Since we can purchase these on whole reels and cut down strips to whatever size the customer requests with the MAX40242ANA+T part number, it didn’t seem reasonable to also continue ordering and stocking the shorter strip version of the same part, the MAX40242ANA+ from them as well.
Since they are literally the same part, I would recommend putting the MAX40242ANA+T on the BOM list rather than the MAX40242ANA+, as this is the part number we will continue to stock in the future.
