Yageo Wire Wound Resistor series PNP and availability of PNP5WVJT-73-0R5

This wire wound resistor series looks very interesting but this particular unit is not available and I would like to make a case for including it in your inventory as it is a perfect replacement for many emitter resistors in a number of Pioneer vintage amps and receivers.. At 0.50Ω it is a perfect match and would be something I am sure would be welcomed in the repair community.

Hello, I was able to find part number 696-1056-ND as a possible alternative for this resistor series. Could this work as a possible replacement for you?

Rob
Yes it would, but it’s almost triple the cost of the Yageo part. As there are 8 emitter resistors (one per output transistor) that is almost $24 compared with 6.80 in Canadian . from Digikey. I will talk with sales and see what their take on stocking the Yageo part is, perhaps they might consider it? One can only ask. Ordering 1000 is a bit beyond my needs. Thanks for your prompt replay. Have a great weekend

Hi wilsonmd,

Depending on your dimensional restrictions and how close to 0.5 Ohms you need to be, here are some additional options:

Remember that you need to compare at the 1000 piece price, as that’s the quantity price that we show for the PNP5WVJT-73-0R5.

I am no expert in your particular application but, considering the Yageo part you mention is a 5% tolerance part, a 0.47 Ohm part might do just as well.
