It can be difficult to know if pictures we include are representative of the actual part in question. We do indicate on all pictures that they are just for reference, however, they do sometimes accurately depict what the part might look like. 5666-KRDM120-ND (manufacturer part number KRDM120) might throw some people off due to the associated accessories listed beneath the part. In this instance, the best thing to do is double check the datasheet.
Datasheet Picture Disclaimer
Some datasheets don’t have exact representations of the part in question either, in this case the picture in the datasheet is not entirely representative of what the part looks like, see below.
The picture above indicates the option described where you have to buy the knobs and potentiometer separately. They describe it as an “external adjustment.” The other adjustment type is described as having an “onboard knob.”
This is why you have to look at the description for the part number found on the first page. The third row on the left column does indicate that this particular part has an on-board knob pre-installed. So that means it will look more like the picture we linked on the DigiKey product display page. The small diagram shows a dial which is more “accurate” to what is found in this particular design.
Why Are the Accessories Listed?
My best guess is this: since the datasheet lists the associated parts for the whole series, we decided to keep them associated for all applicable parts under the series. This even applies to parts that don’t technically need them.
