Alligator, Crocodile, and Heavy-Duty Test Clips are most often used between an electronic circuit and a measurement device, providing a temporary electrical connection. Items in this family are spring loaded and contain two jaws with serrated teeth. The types are alligator, battery terminal clamp, bus bar clip, clamp, crocodile, dolphin, geophone, heavy duty, Kelvin, Pee-Wee, and telecom.

Type: A general description of the item and function.
Jaw Opening: The distance between the jaws of a device when fully opened.
Voltage - Rated: Typically this represents the maximum voltage rating to which a device will meet its given specifications. Exceeding this voltage rating may damage the device and other system components.
Current Rating (Amps): Typically this represents the maximum current to which a device will meet its given specifications. Exceeding this current may damage the device and/or other system components.
Material: Indicates the material from which a device is fabricated.
Plating: Indicates the material used for the plating.
Material - Insulation: Indication of the type of material used in the fabrication of the insulation.
Insulation: Indicates if there is insulation and how much of the item is insulated.
Color: The color of the item/device’s main non-conducting body.
Length: The measurement of the distance across the longest section of the device.
Termination: Describes the shape or standard configuration of a device’s electrical connection(s).
Quantity: Indicates the total number of items included.
Ratings: Minimum performance standards of the device, which are typically set by a third party.
