Is RB-0505S a drop-in replacement for REE-0505S? DigiKey has the RBx part as a “direct” replacement for the REEx. But, it looks like the RBx has 5 pins instead of 4. Even though one of the pins is not used on the RBx, it seems like it would not drop-in because of the extra pin. How many pins are truly present on the RB-0505S?
It would look like the RB-0505S would have the 5 pins.
Even without that pin pining there is also looks like the position of the V+ and V- also moved too.
I am thinking that “direct” in this case was due the the rest of the specs and general function do match.
I have submitted an inquiry to have the site updated.
Thanks, Nathan
From the MFG:
The RB-0505S and the REE-0505S both have 4 pins, but the pin positions are slightly different.
The RB series has both single and dual output configurations. The single output parts have 4 pins and the dual output parts have 5 pins, so the image shown on the datasheet is for a dual output part. The image below highlights the pinout for the RB-0505S:

Compare this to the REE-0505S pinout:

Basically, these two parts have the same footprint and dimensions, but the -Vout pin is in a different pin slot for each part so it’s not a perfect drop-in replacement. We do have a couple of options that could serve as drop-in replacements for the REE-0505S, those parts are the RE-0505S (datasheet: RE.pdf) and the RFB-0505S (datasheet: RFB.pdf).
