Are the sparkfun raspberry pi gpio headers solder-type or solderless?

------Question for 14275 Please Put your question below------

I need headers for a raspberry pi zero. Are these headers from sparkfun, https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/sparkfun-electronics/14275/7428264, the kind that require soldering to attach or are they solderless? I think the solderless type might also be called “hammer head”. If the headers are hammerless, do they come with a jig for installing them?

Hello, welcome to the TechForum!

I checked on Sparkfun’s website and they confirm that this part will require soldering when installing onto a raspberry pi zero.

Thanks. I didn’t see that.

Does DigiKey sell a solderless version?

We don’t stock it but we have an option from Adafruit in our system. It includes a jig to help press down on the headers.

Thank you! I think I prefer this to soldering the headers myself. The RPi Zero shouldn’t be my learn-to-solder project.
