I have two relays and cant seem to find thse mfg pns anywhere. Is there an equivalent to these possibly? They are for a 2008 Mercedes GL450. I was not able to get them at an auto parts store either.
Welcome to the technical forum. We would need to try to match the relay with any part marking on the actual relay . Not the model of the car as we are not a dealer. If you can provide the relay part number and a picture that would be useful. I would say that the relay is most likley proprietary to Mercedes. Though we can sure look.
Hi gina.corneillie,
I was not able to find any data on these, but I did find both on ebay.
- V23134-B52-X309 on ebay
- 4RA007791-15 on ebay
Of course, on ebay there is no guarantee that these are genuine parts, or that they are in good working order, so you would have to order at your own risk.
The side of the body on each show the internal schematic, which is somewhat unusual.
Typically, a 5-pin automotive relay is an SPDT type. However, these are SPST relays, and the fifth contact (87a) has an internal diode attached, which is used to suppress voltage spikes on the switch side of the relay. Most relays with 5 contacts use this contact as the normally-closed contact of the SPDT switch. I can’t say for certain that we don’t carry a relay with this configuration, but I could not find any in our line-up.
Perhaps others here might find a relay we stock with such an internal configuration.
Thanks for this info! I did get a relay for these and tried them but the store I got them from was unsure if they were correct. As soon as I connected the battery and tried to start the car the relays smelled like burnt plastic right after so I disconnected the battery and removed them. Would that cause additional relays in the unit to get burned out as well?
Hard to say as to whether that damaged anything else or not, but it certainly could have. When you smell that, it’s pulling waaay more current through than it’s supposed to, so the item providing that current could get damaged from that.
