These switches are compatible with Infrared Reflow Soldering methods in accordance with IEC 61760-1 standards.
Reflow Soldering Conditions:
- Maximum Soldering Temperature: 260°C.
- The switch is designed to withstand two cycles of reflow soldering.
- Wave soldering is strictly prohibited for this component.
During the reflow process:
- The temperature gradually increases to approximately 180°C over a period of 120 to 150 seconds.
- After the initial preheat, the temperature continues to rise to around 230°C.
- The temperature then peaks at a maximum of 260°C during the reflow stage, where the solder paste melts and forms a solid connection between the component leads and the PCB pads.
- The time spent at the peak temperature should be kept minimal, typically between 5 to 10 seconds, to prevent damage to the components.
Manual Soldering Conditions: When manually soldering the switch, the following precautions must be observed:
- Maximum Temperature: 350°C.
- Maximum Soldering Time: 3 seconds per terminal.
- Maximum Soldering Iron Capacity: 60W.
- Avoid applying excessive force to the terminals while the switch is heated.
- Do not operate the switch while it is still heated.
Additional Note: The switch is not sealed so if any chemical entered the switch during post processing conditions (Washing, coating, potting), it is most likely that such will react with the contact area and will start increasing the contact resistance until the point an open condition will be registered on electrical testing.
