Here is a list of frequently asked questions for Circular Connectors
Terminology-
We often receive requests for Circular connectors, but the terminology can be confusing to those who are searching for these or their mates. I will be going through this category to help clarify some of the terminology.
Connector Type
[connType]
Some of these I don’t have personal experience using, so if one doesn’t know what they look like, click the little image icon in the upper right corner of the filter. However, I do know what causes a bit of confusion: the connector types that have “Re…
Connectors vs Connector Housing-
One very common question that we get here at Digi-Key is “What is the difference between a connector and a connector housing?” In our system, a housing is a connector that does not come with contacts.
Below I have two similar part numbers
Circular connector PT06E-10-6S(SR)-ND
Circular connector housing AIPT06SE10-6S-SR-LC-ND
As you can see they have all the same features, however the connector comes complete with contacts and the housing would require you too order contacts separately. In …
How to Cross-Reference-
The best way to cross-reference two circular connectors is to have your original part number. For example TE part number HD10-9-96P . If you scroll down the page to product attributes you can select attributes that you absolutely need by clicking the box on the right-hand side. If you need an exact match you can always select all at the top of the column. I have highlighted the sections below for easy identification:

If you don’t have the part number, circular connectors usually have …
Circular Connectors Part Number Breakdowns-
Every manufacture and series have different part number break downs. Most manufacturers will have it on the datasheet or a separate document containing just the part number break down.
For example:
CUI part number MD-60 has the part number breakdown on the datasheet: https://www.cuidevices.com/product/resource/md.pdf
We have datasheets for most of our products. They are listed under the Documents & Media section on our website.

While Lemo has a quick reference guide on their website…
Documentation-
Circular connector documentation can be tricky. Especially if you are looking for a certain piece of information and it’s not there. We’ve added a nice feature to our site recently that puts the datasheet at the top of the page. No more searching! Here is what our update looks like on part number HR1251-ND :

As you can see the datasheet is available to open right as you click into the page. If you click on the more documentation it will redirect you to the Documents & Media section wher…
