Compatibility of 2 different usb boards for lepton 3.5 camera made by same manufacturer

Hi, I would like to purchase this usb board for my lepton 3.5 camera https://www.digikey.co.za/en/products/detail/groupgets-llc/PURETHERMAL-3/18677153 - i already have this one PureThermal Mini USB | GroupGets

so i want to know if they are compatible and if i would be able to hardware sync 2 lepton 3.5s with one camera in the first board and one camera in the second- the datasheet of the purethermal board doesn’t mention anything related to this.

Hello Rasheedataliep,

Welcome to DigiKey’s TechForum

Part Number PURETHERMAL-3 is compatible with the 3.5 Lepton Camera Modules.

Part Number PURETHERMAL-3
Dataheet features state:
“• Compatible with all current 2.x and 3.x Lepton cores”

Hi, I want to know if the 2 boards I mentioned are compatible and if I can hardware sync two different cameras with these different boards. Not whether the cameras are compatible with the boards. I’m not asking about the cameras. Only the boards :slight_smile:

@rasheedataliep

Would you be able to elaborate more on the goal of doing the sync?
–Or any other details?
Would you have a high level diagram of what you are envisioning?

I would think that the original design would be based on 1 camera for the communications at a time. However, it may be possible to buss the signals. But you would need to modify the project.

The PureThermal 3 is an upgrade over the PureThermal mini, which includes changes and upgrades.

Hi, I’m intending to record thermal data for super resolution purposes, so i need multiple Lepton cameras, these cameras need to be hardware synced to record the same scene. I am currently using the PureThermal mini for my other cameras, but i have an extra camera and am unable to access another PureThermal mini, hence why i want to opt for the PureThermal 3. I just need to know if the PureThermal 3 can hardware sync with my other PureThermal minis so all my cameras record the same scene

This hardware does not support hardware sync. Your best option is to configure in software the same fps for both cameras then grab the frame at the same time thru the sdk.
