Compatible part for PCD-124D2M NLA 24V DC relay

I see that the PCD-124D2M 24V DC 4 pin low profile Tyco Electronics relay is NLA and was wondering if there is a part that is cross-compatible I can use to replace it instead.

Hi gamesgenie,

There isn’t a lot of information on these and the part number you gave isn’t complete. I was able to find some results on TE website here: https://www.te.com/en/search.html?q=PCD-124D2M+&source=header but none of them give me any actual specs and no info is available on any of the data sheets for them.

Do you have more information on the specific one you’re after other than 24VDC coil 4 pin?

Page 27 of the document on TE here shows the pinouts:

I’m not sure how accurate that pin out is as far as the arrangement and distance of the pins.
But I think that looks to be SPST normally open type, my best guess. Do you know the exact current rating? I think that test report document you presented shows either 10A or 15A versions. If we go with 15A at 24VDC SPST-NO through hole type some options in stock are: Through Hole 24VDC Power Relays, Over 2 Amps | Electronic Components Distributor DigiKey

Hope that helps.

I found the actual data sheet.

Here’s what I got using the part number decoder in it:
PCD = PC Board terminals (through hole)
no contact
24 vdc
standard 200mW coil input
Contact material AgSnO2
Contact arrangement - NO contact 1 Form A

Here are the data sheet pages.

Here’s the actual relay casing for the one I need to replace:

That is great! Thanks for the data sheet and the picture. Do you have the link to that data sheet for our records?

So I wasn’t that far off. Some of the SPST NO relays I offered in my previous reply at 15A rating could work.

Here are some of the through hole SPST NO (1 form A) relays 24VDC coil at 10A contact rating instead that we have in stock similar to the PCD-124D2M: Through Hole 24VDC Power Relays, Over 2 Amps | Electronic Components Distributor DigiKey

I got it from the links here:

But it kept putting me in a loop or redirecting me to a similar but wrong version when I clicked to download the PDF, so in the end, I had to use their HTML viewer with the correct data sheet and just screen cap it.

Thanks for the list of potential alternative ones that will work. I’ll check that out.

Looking at the list, there are lots of differences in the details, but I’m not sure what matters and what doesn’t. Here are two examples:

must release voltage - original 1.2VDC, replacement 2.4VDC
Operate/release time - original 8/2ms, replacement 10/10ms

Do those differences disqualify that replacement relay?

Thanks for that link.

Most important parameters of a relay in general are its coil voltage, circuitry (SPST, SPDT etc) with what form, it’s contact rating and termination. Other parameters are secondary more or less, but it mainly depends on the application.

The closest to that one I found from our list that is in stock is part number AZ7709T-1AE-24DSEF from American Zettler.

It has that same must operate voltage 18VDC and Must release voltage of 1.2VDC and the operate time of 8ms but the release time is 4ms not 2ms. It is a decent similar substitute though not exact so you will have to review the data sheet.
