I’m working for an engineering agency, where we want to find a new/better solution to PCB design component databases and integration with vendors. We have of course seen that many components in DigiKey’s catalogue have downloadable footprints, symbols and 3D models, but are these gathered in some kind of database we could integrate in our tools?
We currently use OrCad/Cadence and it must be compatible with that CAD tool.
Some requirements/desires we have or are interested in are:
• Integration with OrCad
• Pre-reviewed and linked schematic symbols and layout footprints
• Data field with your (digikey) part number to easily find/buy
• Dynamic field that can automatically be updated to show component status (active/NRND/obsolete)

DigiKey does not currently have an API feed that contain the downloadable EDA/CAD part assets. There are API feeds for searching part numbers, viewing status and parameters, and also BOM management (myLists) that may help get closer to your solution, but without the symbols and footprints. For more information on APIs, please check the developer portal.
A 3rd party add-on for OrCad exists from one of our model partners, Ultra Librarian. The add-on is called Ultra-BOM and includes direct search for DigiKey part numbers and the ability to natively drop in symbols and footprints.
