Connection between Tektronix Bert scope BSA125C and PC via GPIB Port

------Question for AK40G Please Put your question below------

To whom this may concern,
I am looking into means of communication between an old Tektronix Bert Scope BSA125C and a newer PC. The BERT scope cannot be access via Lan, hence, GPIB is the only way to reach that device. We do not have GPIB port on out PC. Would this cable be sufficient for my usage? Given the GPIB port on the Bert is only IEEE488 (not IEEE488.2 in the cable’s datasheet). We are grateful for any support prior to purchasing. Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to the TechForum.

I was able to gather some information to try help you on this request.

IEEE488: Primarily a hardware standard that defines the electrical, mechanical, and functional workings of the GPIB interface. It includes state machines, hardware addressing, and data transfer protocols.

IEEE488.2: A firmware specification that addresses the limitations of IEEE488.1, focusing on the syntax, format conventions, device-independent commands, data structures, and error protocols. It provides a standard format for instructions sent across the bus, ensuring consistency and ease of programming.

In summary, IEEE488.2 enhances the original GPIB standard by providing a more structured and standardized way to communicate between devices, making it easier to program and use across different instruments and applications.

Thank you

Thank you Ryan, for your clarification. My next question would be the estimated time to ship this cable to Viet Nam.
