If I order a 2 layer board with 1oz copper, what copper weight is used per layer?
The documentation is a bit confusing.
Welcome to the forum.
Even after 50 years PCB specs often confuse me when I dig into the the details.
With the outer layers on a 1oz copper PCB, they start with 0.5 oz copper and when they plate the through holes & vias the plating increases the thickness of the outer layers.
Plating does not affect the thickness of the inner layers.
More expensive PCB fabrication companies will control the thickness better if you pay more.
PaulHutch is correct.
The thickness of an outer layer is copper thickness + plating thickness which is why it becomes 1oz thickness. It starts out as 0.5oz but then ends up greater than 1oz thick after plating.
Thanks for the replies. That clears it up.
