Hi!
We’re experiencing a technical issue with a camera we purchased about two months ago and would appreciate your assistance. The device is an Allied Vision Alvium 1800 U-158m, serial number 06CXK. It recently stopped being detected by our PCs. We’ve tested it on multiple PCs and tried reconnecting it, but it doesn’t appear in either Device Manager or Vimba X Viewer.
We previously reached out to Allied Vision regarding this issue, and they advised us to disconnect the camera overnight to allow it to cool to room temperature, then reconnect it directly via USB3. Unfortunately, this troubleshooting step didn’t resolve the issue either.
Would it be possible to send the camera in for repair or evaluation? If there’s anything else we can try first, please let us know.
See this page to request a RMA number for product returns.
Trying different cable(s) would be something to do if it’s not already been done, and a person would do well to take a step back and examine the application for potential causes of damage, such as buildup of static electricity, excess vibration/acceleration, power source anomalies, etc.
Failure of a USB device to enumerate is a good sign that something’s gone wrong. I rather doubt that a device marketed as an industrial camera should have need of an overnight rest as part of normal operation.
Hi! Thanks for your reply. I haven’t tested it with another cable yet, but the one I’m using is brand new and seems sturdy, so I doubt the issue is with the cable. Also, the green light on the outside of the camera turns on, so I believe it’s receiving power from the computer.
I read through the RMA page, but unfortunately, it’s been over 60 days since we purchased the camera. We’re not necessarily looking to return it and we’d be happy to have it repaired if that’s an option. Would it still be possible to send it in for repair after the 60-day window?
