I am working on repairing a consumer power supply 110V have a challenge identifying one part photo attached. It reads short which made me think it was an inductor 55uH but the circuit board shows it as a zener diode which I thought might be 1N55H. It is wired in reverse from the control pin of the chip (Gate) and the positive winding of the transformer secondary.
The board markings definitely indicate a diode, but it does look like an inductor to me. If it helps at all, I found a datasheet online for the MIP2E4D showing the following schematic. Of course, designers don’t always follow the schematics provided exactly, so yours may vary, but perhaps this might help a bit.
Edit: Upon further inspection, it may not be exclusively for the MIP2E4D.
Thanks David. I also thought it was an inductor but someone on Badcaps.net knew it was a Sony device and the part number of the component a MAZ 4150 15v Zener diode. I replaced it and the supply works.
