I’m reaching out to inquire about the steps DigiKey is taking to ensure that these batteries comply with the new EU MDR Battery Regulation (2023/1542). Specifically, we want to make sure that we will receive batteries that meet the updated requirements moving forward.
I contacted Energizer directly, and they confirmed that batteries produced after July 2024 will comply with all labeling requirements under the new regulations. I’ve attached their notice for your reference. Additionally, they informed us that the CE mark, as required by the new regulations, will be placed on the packaging and not directly on the battery.
Could you please provide further details on how DigiKey will ensure compliance and any additional steps we need to take?
We would like to receive a CoC from DigiKey that the batteries that we receive henceforth would be compliant with the new Battery Regulations (2023/1542). Is it possible?
As the other post indicates to get the CE markings you would need to order full packaging.
And also, when ordering you can place in your order notes that you are needing the requested documentation and that the items have a manufacturer date after July 2024.
Please see the post I wrote concerning CE markings for coin cell batteries. The quantity can be found by searching for the ‘box’ icon in the price breaks section of a given part number, and can also be found at the bottom of most product pages in the “Additional Resources” section, entitled “Standard Package”.
Please note that simply ordering Standard Package quantity by itself is not sufficient to guarantee original manufacturer packaging, as our fulfillment team may arrange a 400-piece order from bits and pieces of available broken lots, instead. As directed in the original CE Markings post, this packaging must be actively requested at the time of placing the order, via the Order Notes section of your order.
We tried ordering these batteries 3 separate times with the Order Notes as described in this post and have not received CE marked batteries with any of the orders. Can you please help?
Hi @kchofey ,
The CR-2 battery from Energizer does not have the CE mark on the battery ( due to size constraints), but they have placed the mark on the battery packaging. So i recommend checking the packaging. And if you have ordered manufacturers standard packaging then you technically should receive a COC as well stating compliance with the new EU MDR battery regulations (2023/154).
Note: I do not work for DigiKey and am a customer. But thought of sharing this information that I recieved from Energizer when I contacted them.
This is correct. If you are needing CE marking for that size of battery you will need to order the full manufacturer packaging.
You can then indicate in the order notes that you want an unbroken package from the manufacturer.
