THERE IS NO WAY TO SPECIFY THIS IN THE ORDERING PROCESS
Enter in the order notes that you need a continuous strip.
There is nothing anywhere in the ordering process to indicate that cut tape might be cut into smaller bits of cut tape so there is no reason for a customer to know that they have to ask for this at the end.
And we are supposed to know that we have to specify that cut tape isn’t cut into short lengths exactly how?
Most cut tape orders will be parts on one piece of tape, however, if DigiKey’s stock is diminishing there can be instances were end pieces that remain are shipped out on an order. In a majority of cases this instruction for Add Order Notes “continuous strip” isn’t needed.
I’ve got about 40% of my order in scraps of tape. One bag contains 20 short strips each with 5 components on a strip, another line item is spread across five bags - one of them is a strip of TWO. I normally use Mouser and I have never encountered this. It means I’ve just wasted 40% of my parts budget on stuff I can’t put in a pick and place machine.
Thank you for your feedback.
In your case I would, like in the above example, put in the Add Order Notes to request one continuous length of cut tape when available.
Maybe you should be explaining this to customers WHEN they place an order, not after its too late.
Can I get a refund on all the parts I have wasted my time buying, and get them replaced with what I was actually trying to order?
PM sent to gather information on your specific order.
Thank You
