Female SMA Antennae

Hey Folks,

I am looking to get the female equivalent part # for ANT-2.4-CW-RAH-RPS

Thanks your help is greatly appreciated.

Hello mannixkennedy,

Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum.
We have a lot of connectors that would mate to this antenna.

Please check through the datasheets to verify compatibility to your application.

Hi David,

Thanks for the reply, but I am just looking to get the exact same antenna but with a female SMA connector instead of male. Inventory is running low, and need these ASAP.

Hi mannixkennedy,

Your antenna has an RP-SMA (reverse-polarity SMA) connector on it, which means the connector with the inward-facing threads (the “nut”) has a female center socket and it mates with a connector with outward-facing threads and a center male pin.

RP-SMA connector style:

So, you need an equivalent antenna with standard SMA connector on it. This would be the ANT-2.4-CW-RAH-SMA. Note that the only thing that changes is the suffix.

  • ANT-2.4-CW-RAH-RPS: RP-SMA connector
  • ANT-2-4-CW-RAH-SMA: Standard SMA connector

ANT-2.4-CW-RAH-SMA with standard SMA connector style:

Thanks for your reply,
Correct, this is what I am looking for.

If you could provide a prart # that would be awesome, and we can order them today.

Thanks

Mannix

I did above, but here it is again: ANT-2.4-CW-RAH-SMA

Hi David,

I ordered a bag of 20 of these antennae using the code above, and got the male version. (Somehow we got our wires crossed)
I need the code for the female version (Picture below)

Thanks

Mannix

I did find this on the website ANT-2.4-CW-RAH-RPS, but in the description it says it’s a male connector.

To avoid further confusion, RP-SMA and SMA connectors are the same only they swap the center pin.

Could you please indicate the version you require in the picture below?

Hi mannixkennedy,

I would strongly avoid relying on the terms “male” or “female” when referring to connectors. Pin and socket are obvious, but among our various manufacturers, there seems to be no consistent consensus as to what represents “male” or “female” when it comes to the overall connector.

This is why I provided images and descriptions above to try to remove any questions as to what each part number refers to.

The RP-SMA version (the one with the female pin socket and the inner-facing threads on the nut) is the ANT-2.4-CW-RAH-RPS, which is what you initially called out in your first post.

Hello David,

Thanks for the info on the industry nomenclature. I am looking to get the RP-SMA plug female socket antennae.
https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/te-connectivity-linx/ANT-2-4-CW-RAH-RPS/1139583 , although the termination in the description says RP-SMA male.
So is RP (reverse Polarity) the same as socket/female?

Thanks again for your help.

Mannix

Hi Mannix,

Yes, the ANT-2.4-CW-RAH-RPS meets your need to have an RP-SMA connection with rotating nut and center female socket contact.

When it comes to the antenna side, with the rotating nut, yes, the RP-SMA version means that the center contact is “socket/female”.

Of course, on the mating connector jack with the threads on the outside, “RP-SMA” is the same as “pin/male”, as seen in @Kristof_2649’s image.
