Fiber optic transmitters with integrated drive circuitry include a light source such as an LED or laser as well as signal conditioning electronics used to inject a signal into a fiber optic cable. Common applications are digital audio, DVI, Ethernet, HDMI, telecommunications and general data transfer. Fiber optic transmitters are differentiated by transmission wavelength and data rate expressed in bits per second.
Wavelength: Characterizes the highest point in a device’s output spectrum when operated at rated test conditions.
Data Rate: Characterizes the maximum rate at which information can be transmitted or received by a device. Does not necessarily refer to throughput rate for user data, see device datasheets for further information.
Voltage - Supply: Indicates the span over which a device’s operational supply voltage may be permitted to vary.
Current - Supply: Characterizes device current consumption while operating in an active state.
Applications: Indicates the specified use case for the part.
