I’m looking for a keyed, shrouded IDC ribbon-cable connector system with both male and female connectors cable-mounted. I need two 8-position mating pairs and one 10-position mating pair, with 0.100-inch pitch. I don’t need ejector hooks, and I want to avoid PCB-mounted headers entirely.
I have been looking at Amphenol FCI’s 71600 series, but its listed mating headers appear to be PCB-mounted. Can you identify a connector family with directly mating cable-mounted male and female halves in both sizes, and give me the exact manufacturer part numbers?

Unfortunately, I do not believe we stock any 8-position 0.1" pitch male pin ribbon cable IDC-style connectors. The only part that I can identify with that characteristic is the non-stocking part number AWH 08G-0202-IDC (note the image is just a generic one of the series, but the part number given is an 8-pin variant). Unfortunately, minimum order quantity (MOQ) for this part is 1080 pieces and we are currently not even showing any lead time for estimated delivery.
Personally, I don’t ever remember seeing the 8-pin male variant described above, but who knows what might be floating around the internet for that.
Regarding the 10-pin variant, those are more readily available. Here’s a link to our offering of the 10-position 0.1" pitch male pin ribbon cable IDC-style connectors. For the mating females, I would generally recommend going with the same brand as the male pin variant you choose, though they are generally considered intermateable.
For most of the parts in the link above, you can find the mating parts by scrolling down on the respective product detail page for each part to find them. In a few cases, by scrolling down you might even find a few preassembled-on-cable options, if that’s of interest, though those assemblies are of limited supply and will not be available anymore once current stock is depleted..
