Hesitation Switches

We’ve had requests come in for a specific type of toggle switch referred to as a hesitation switch. This seems to be the typical name but they might sometimes be referred to as “delay” or “center stop” switches as well.

The basic idea is that your ON-OFF-ON switch has a forced stop in the middle, to prevent shorting or motor damage in applications where the user might accidentally swing between “ON” positions too quickly without giving the equipment time to power down, but it’s still necessary to have the control on one switch. For example, controlling reverse/forward on a large motor.

Unfortunately, we don’t seem to carry these at time of writing, unless another user has seen them, though I did find out that Eaton makes several series covering this type of switch.

Catalog for Heavy Duty Switches (Hesitation Switches covered on pages 220-222)

Alternate EATON Catalog (Hesitation Switches covered on pages 27-30)

Hope this helps!
