To use the acrylic conductive pens from MG Chemicals, you will need to follow the steps below:
- Clean the surface you are drawing on with isopropyl alcohol to remove oil, dust, and other residue contaminates.
- Shake the pen with the cap on until you hear the ball inside the pen move.
- Remove the cap.
- Hold the pen at an angle with the tip pressed against the surface you are drawing on.
- draw the pen across the surface while gently squeezing the barrel/body of the pen.
- replace the cap when you are done drawing.
- Let draw for 10 minutes before handling or heat-curing
When you are done drawing and have waited the 10 minutes before handling, the acrylic will take 24 hours to cure at room temperature, or it can be baked in an oven for 1 hour at 65°C (149°F). Do not forget to place the cap back on the conductive pen when you are done and store it in a dry area that is not exposed to sunlight and is kept at a temperate between -5°C to 40°C (23°F to 104°F). If you follow these storage requirements, the shelf life of these conductive pens is 5 years.
Tech Tip
If you find that you need to apply a second coat of acrylic, only allow 3 minutes of dry time between each coat, or the acrylic will not properly bond.
