Hello,
Hot wire connect to pin 1.
Pin 2 is hot and will connect to what you are turning on when the switch is turned on.
Pin 3 connects to the neutral wire coming off of what ever you are turning on.

Here is a schematic view of Karl_1696’s point:
Basic Switch Function. Hot comes into pin 1, and only connects to pin 2 when the switch is turned ON, which leads Hot to the load. Other side of load you are powering is ran to Neutral.
Basic Switch Function + Indication circuit. Same switch function as above circuit. For illumination when the switch is turned ON, connect a Neutral wire to pin 3. Do not short or touch any of the wires when power is present. To have Constant Illumination, swap wires of pin 1 & 2.
