Hello, I have a small 5 pin plug harness that uses spring type friction pins with a locking tab that mate against the pins on the PCB pictured. I have dealt with these spring type pins before and in many cases which sometimes make poor connections. I was wondering if there is an alternative pin to use such as a female crimp style pin that I could use in the harness instead of the friction style pin. If anyone can help with this, it would be much appreciated! The pins are roughly .50 inch long. I have attached the image of the PCB connection along with a similar style pin used in the harness. Hopefully you can open the attachments ok and thanks for your time!
Would you be also wanting to replace the board mounted connector too?
As it may be possible to have a different contact used for the housing that is more/totally encompassing however it would more than likely not fit in the housing well.
Which would cause the same problem as these would.
It may also be possible that other housings could work but I would not be 100% on how well it will fit the space (the latch specifically).

Also knowing the current item numbers for the contact, header, and wire housing would help with looking for other options that may fit what you have.
Hi @yankeyboy1 ,
This looks a bit like JSTβs VH-series. Is the pitch 3.96mm?
You could try this contact (together with VHR-5N receptacle housing):
Cheers, heke
Thank you so much! That looks like the correct pin!! I appreciate the info!!
