If you look at the DEMN-9P-N-K87 from ITT Cannon, you may find some adhesive inside the screw hole of the connector for the jackscrews. It may be red in color.
The manufacturer has confirmed that this is normal. Adding adhesive is part of the standard process for any pre-installed hardware on a D-Sub connector and the hardware is not supposed to be removed.
