Hi all,
we are talking here about the number of posititions: 40, FFC, FCB thickness 0.30 mm and FFC band width 20 mm. On DigiKey, I have just been able to identify part number: 05413224062, which is not really looking, but I am happy to stand corrected.
The pictures below show the undamaged and the damaged version of the needed FFC, FPC (flat flexible) connectors.

The part number referenced above I could not review please check for any typos in the number 05413224062.
40Positions 20mm width should have pitch estimated to be 0.5mm. This can be measured from center of one contact to center of the adjacent contact. This measurement can be used to filter Flat Flex Connector Category
There’s quite a few that could be reviewed after filtering this category. It would be helpful if any markings may indicate the manufacturer. Are there contacts on the top, bottom or both where the cable mates to the connector?
My suggestion is to look through the list of filtered options click here and review the datasheets for options that look to best fit.
