Machine vision lenses are designed for use with hardware systems that provide imaging-based automatic inspection and analysis for such industrial applications as automatic inspection, process control, and robot guidance. Typical focal ranges include macro, standard, telephoto and wide angle with focal lengths from 2.8 mm to 100 mm. Lenses are selected by compatible image sensor size such as 1 inch, 1/3 inch, 1/2 inch, 1.8 inch and 2/3 inch.
SelectionCharacteristics
Type: The specific category or classification of the lens based on its focal length and field of view characteristics.
Focal Length: The distance between the lens and the image sensor.
Magnification: The degree of visual enlargement of an object by the lens.
Focal Ratio: The ratio of the lens’ focal length to the diameter of the lens aperture.
Compatible Sensor Size (Max): The maximum size of the image sensor that the lens is designed to accommodate.
Field of View: The span of distance across a viewed object’s surface that is visible through a device. Varies with magnification setting.
Working Distance: Describes the range of distances between a viewed surface and a device’s objective lens that permit the surface to be brought into focus.
Depth Of Field: The range of distances that appear acceptably sharp or in focus.
Resolution: The smallest discernible feature size.
TV Distortion: The level of distortion introduced by the lens.
Filter Size: The thread size of the lens that allows for attachment of optical filters.
Diameter: The physical diameter of the lens.
Length: Indicates the length of the lens.
Mounting Type: Indicates how the lens is attached.
Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
