I have this connector, and need more ribbon cable. Does this one fit? Thanks.
Do you mean if the cable will work with that connector? If so, that cable has the wrong pitch. The cable is supposed to have half the pitch of the connector. That particular cable is .27mm too big which might throw off the spacing. I apologize, I didn’t see any 1mm parts in stock at the time. The item Troy found will be suitable. I based my answer on the conductor strands on the inside, I didn’t see that they were actually 28AWG.
Well, that’s too bad.
I ordered 10 of those connectors and some of the cable, but I guess the cable is wrong. I will need the correct cable. I clicked on the data sheet for those connectors and it just took me to a generic data sheet of all different kinds of connectors is there a data sheet for that specific connector? So that I will know what cable to get exactly if you don’t have it in stock I might have to try a mouser
Greetings,
Connector part number 609-3140-ND has a pitch of 2mm. The cable that fits is half the pitch of the connector to work with the two rows.
Part Number 123-AWG28-08/G-1/300-DS-ND
Ribbon Cable 8 Positions 1mm pitch
Hi SouthernAtHeart,
Yes, the “datasheet” covers the entire 2.0mm Minitek series parts rather than just the 89361 series parts. That particular series can be found on pages 14 ~ 15 of that document.
Other useful documents, including the drawing for the 89361 can be found if you scroll a little ways down the product detail page past the Product Attributes to the Documents and Media section, as seen here:
I do note that in the drawing, even though it does specify a 2mm pitch between contacts, it does not explicitly specify that one must use 1mm pitch ribbon cable to accommodate the dual rows of 2mm pitch contacts. If in doubt about a product, please post a question and we’d be happy to do what we can to help out or clarify.
Thanks! That’s what I need.
And thanks for pointing out the drawing on the main page, further down, I’ve never seen that! I’ve always gone for the data sheet at the top…
cheers.
