The goal of this article is to continue where the previous articles of the PIC18F16Q20 CURIOSITY NANO here and the PIC16F13145-CNANO here left. Here the MPLAB linux version will be installed. Please proceed to download it here. Once it finished downloading, then proceed to install it as follows. For the current Linux version used here please to do this first,
digikey_coffee_cup# sudo apt install coreutils-from-gnu coreutils-from-uutils- --allow-remove-essential
this will temporarily replace the Rust-based core utilities with the GNU version. This ensures the correct md5sum tool is used during installation. Then proceed to install it as follows,
digikey_coffee_cup# sudo ./MPLABX-v6.30-linux-installer.sh
64-bit Linux detected.
Check for 64-bit libraries
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing MPLAB X 'v6.30' installer...
Once the installation options for installed MPLAB X are selected, with all the compilers needed, then reboot the system.
At this point the MPLAB X IDE is installed in Linux. Stay tuned for our next articles for the PIC18F16Q20 CURIOSITY NANO and the PIC16F13145-CNANO which are low cost evaluation platforms and are available at DigiKey.
Have a great day!
