As per the title, I’m looking for an alternative to Microchip’s USB3740 in a DIP package with similar functionality due to ease/cost of soldering. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
I’m sorry, I am only finding the USB3740 in the 10QFN package
It doesn’t need to be any particular manufacturer. I just need something I can solder easily.
They aren’t going to make anything like this in a DIP form-factor these days, both because newer chips are rarely produced in DIP packages in general and, in the case of a part such as this, which is passing through very high-speed signals, DIP packages will tend to degrade the signal integrity of the transmitted data significantly.
The best we can offer are a couple similar parts in a 10-MSOP package, which has actual leads, though their pitch is 0.5mm, so still very tiny.
Options similar to the USB3740, but in MSOP package:
Click here for breakout board 315-IPC0261-ND. This will work for 10 or 12 lead QFN packages. Please verify it will work for your exact chip.
Hm. Well, a breakout board will be good for prototyping. Thanks, all!
