Why does the latter not have a listed USB interface? Can we use MTDOT-915-X1P-SMA-50 as an alternative to MTDOT-915-X1P-SMA-1? I am not seeing where these indicate that they have different serial interfaces.
Looking at this product change notice, it appears that the suffix of -1 vs -50 is an indication of the manufacturer standard packaging.

Looking at the manufacturers page for MTDOT-915-X1P-SMA-1 and MTDOT-915-X1P-SMA-50, bring up the same datasheet with the screenshot below for listed interfaces.
The only mention I am seeing of USB on their datasheet is in regard to the Develop Kit, MTMDK-ST-MDOT).
Looking at page 4 of the datasheet, it also shows the part number as MTDOT-915-X1P-SMA, that with the previously linked Product Change Notice, would seem to indicate that they are the same part. They were just sold from the manufacturer in different quantities.
The suffix calls out a mfr package quantity/MOQ, as Nick mentions.
Because somebody was sloppy/inconsistent when entering the data. That’s not uncommon among products of the sort, for which there are fewer norms of communication compared to something like a resistor or capacitor.
In any event, the manufacturer’s documentation is to be considered authoritative in all cases, regardless of how a product may appear listed on the DK site or elsewhere.
