Need an alternative for Texas Instruments ic chip

I have a TI 71001FB ic that is obsolete and am looking for a direct replacement. Have not been able to obtain data sheet for it.

Hi gregory_weschler, Welcome to the DigiKey TechForum.

I am also unable to find a datasheet for this IC which makes me wonder if it is a special proprietary device which would be why information is very hard to find on it. Do you by chance have any of the specs on this IC? We could use those in an attempt to find a cross. Sorry for the inconvenience.

only info i have found is that it is 8 bit 16 pin.

Sorry @gregory_wechsler,

That leads me to further suspect this is a proprietary device. Like @mitch_13649, I was unable to locate a direct substitute.

For what’s it’s worth, we often encounter this situation with automotive products.

Best Wishes,

Aaron

P.S. Has this become unobtanium in the scrapyards?

yes after getting more info from friend i found that it is a module from a 1987 thunderbird. Thanks for the effort guys.

There are tow of these ic,s in this unit. any advice on how to test good ic and determine type of aplication.

Hello @gregory_wechsler,

That a challenging proposition.

If we had the datasheet, we could likely come up with a test solution. Although the units would likely need to be removed.

Yes, a working unit could be reversed engineered but only at great time cost.

Best wishes,
