If purchasing batteries, I need to know what the manufactured date is. This is a requirement for the end customer. Two specific examples I am looking at right now that I need this information for are as follows:
DigiKey Part # 3164-PS-1270F2-ND, Qty. 18.
a. Related, the need I have is for POWER-SONIC CORPORATION 56309 P/N PS-1270 F2, and I am having a hard time telling which of the following DigiKey Parts matches that: “3164-PS-1270F2-ND” or “3414-PS-1270F2-ND”
For all items, At this time we would not be able to indicate what date codes / manufacturing dates we have on hand before ordering.
You can when you order request in your order notes that the items need to be no older than X number of months or newer then X number of months.
As for "“3164-PS-1270F2-ND” vs “3414-PS-1270F2-ND”.
These would be the same battery. The difference would in how it is being supplied to you.
“3164-PS-1270F2-ND” is shipped from the DigiKey warehouse.
“3414-PS-1270F2-ND” is shipped from a Battery Store Inc location.
Nathan, this question bears on possible repeat orders with DigiKey. Can you answer the below follow up questions?
If I place an order note requiring the battery to have been manufactured on or after a specific date, will DigiKey verify the date code before shipment and cancel or hold the order if compliant stock is unavailable?
If an older battery is shipped despite that note, will DigiKey cover return shipping and waive any restocking fee?
The sales folks would be better able to advise as to the specific mechanisms and options in place for addressing such issues.
That said, what sort of date/age restrictions are being proposed? There is a point beyond which such requests become impractical to fulfill via a distribution model, and one instead needs to look at scheduling orders direct with the manufacturer, or making adjustments to expectations.
As a general matter, standard-stock battery products of the type will ship from DigiKey within the stated expiration date. This does not apply however to price-reduced “alternate stock” listings that one may see, which are offered at a discount precisely because the stock has aged.
