Counters and Hour Meters are equipment used to keep a running total and/or control an external device based on that count. The characteristics are batch, count rate, time format, number of characters per row, display type, input type, and output type. The types are batch, preset, tachometer, process timer, time counter, and totalizer.
Type: A general description of the device and it’s function.
Operating Mode: Describes the signalling scheme(s) which may be used with a device to increment or decrement the displayed count value.
Count Rate: Indicates the maximum speed(s) at which a device can count input events. Multiple values indicate a device with a selectable/configurable count rate.
Time Format: Indicates how a device represents time, in terms of digit count and digit significance.
Number of Characters Per Row: For products incorporating a segmented display, the display width in terms of number of alphanumeric characters that can be shown on each row of the display.
Display Type: Describes the user interface for indication.
Display Characters - Height: Indicates the vertical dimension of the digits/letters used by a device to visually display information about some quantity measured or controlled by a device.
Input Type: Indicates the type of input/control signal the device is designed to accept.
Output Type: Indicates the type of output the device uses for control.
Voltage - Supply: Typically represented by a range, this indicates the low and high voltage limits which one can expect standard operation. Voltages outside this range may damage the device and other system components.
Reset: Indicates ability to reset a device count, existence of provisions to do so from a device’s front panel, and whether the reset behavior implemented is simple or user-configurable.
Panel Cutout Dimensions: Indicates the size and shape of the hole that would accommodate the device for mounting.
Mounting Type: Indicates how the device is attached.
Termination Style: Describes the shape or standard configuration of a device’s electrical connection(s).
Ingress Protection: IP (Ingress Protection) ratings such as (IP20, IP65, IP67, etc.) define how likely water and dirt will get into the system. The first number represents dirt and solid contaminants while the second represents water and liquids.
