Potentiometer kits range in resistance from 10 ohms to 2 Mega ohms with a resistive material being carbon, cermet, conductive plastic, Hybritron, and wirewound in a linear or logarithmic taper. A pot (potentiometer) is a three-terminal resistor with a rotating or sliding contact that forms an adjustable voltage divider. The number of turns range from 1 to 25 with a power rating of 0.06W (1/10W) to 2W.
SelectionCharacteristics
Kit Type: A general description of the function and contents of the kit.
Resistance (Ohms): Characterizes the nominal resistance of a current path through a device. Indicates the span of resistances the kit includes.
Resistive Material: Indicates the material of which a device’s resistive element is constructed. Has general influence over traits such as rotational life, noise characteristics, power dissipation capability, and cost.
Taper: Characterizes the relationship between device resistance and knob position (or digital input code, for digital potentiometer devices).
Tolerance: Indicates the span of tolerances the kit includes.
Power (Watts): Identifies the amount of heat that can be continuously dissipated by the resistive element without damaging the device. Measured in Watts (W) and typically based on the size of the device. Indicates the span of wattages the kit includes.
Number of Turns: Indicates the number of actuator rotations required to move a device through its full range of travel.
Quantity: Indicates the number of potentiometers contained in the kit.
Termination Style: Selection of termination style used to connect the device to a system, such as PC pin or solder lug.
