Prometheus Peltier Module PRMT02-34465-30B

Hi

Which is the best way to control the temperature of Peltier Module Prometheus PRMT02-34465-30B ?

Best,

Greetings,

The part number mentioned appears to be a thermal energy harvesting module, designed to generate a (small) amount of energy from a temperature difference, rather than the other way around as is the case for most “normal” peltier devices.

With this being the case, it’s not clear what is meant by asking how to “control the temperature” of the device. Since the expected use is to maintain a temperature difference across the device and get an electrical output out, one would control the temperature across the device by controlling whatever heat source is used to power it.

Hello anhluugh,

I am not sure I quite understand your question. As the datasheet suggests, the main application is to capture energy rather than control a temperature.

If you’re planning on using this as a feedback device in an external control system that is equipped to heat and cool, you will need to follow the ADC section of the datasheet:

If you’re referring to controlling the temperature of the module itself to ensure it does not exceed maximums, that will heavily depend on the environment that this is being used in. Adding heat sinks and convection on the sinking side can help, but it should be noted that this is intended for small heat differences. As Rick states in the response above, the easiest way to control the temperature is going to be changing the temperature of the heat source it’s attached to.

Klint
