While both these use SPI for communications, the W25N is a raw NAND flash. So you will need a different interface driver to access raw/blocks, or a flash based file system.
Arduino library for example: GitHub - squaresausage/WinbondW25N: Arduino Winbond W25N library
Regards,
Thank you. I am looking for something like https://www.longsto.com/product/30.html that is stocked by Digikey, Mouser or Arrow.
Would you be able to provide a datasheet for this part? I was unable to find enough information on this page to find a possible alternative.
I attempted to link to a datasheet hosted by mouser (but not stocked by them) for an XTSD01G that is a similar product. - from my personal account.
We stock these:
512MB: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/adafruit-industries-llc/4899/13688266
2GB: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/adafruit-industries-llc/6038/25589350
4GB: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/adafruit-industries-llc/6039/25589359
I evaluated that potential solution and don’t have enough board real estate for the added components. I could rewrite my firmware to write direct to NAND flash like the winbond as one solution but was hoping to find a US stocked SD NAND chip. But it appears they are a very unusual thing.
Correct, this is big niche. Your issue is the SPI compatibility which was not included when eMMC was spun out from microSD. As eMMC is the traditional embedded microSD.
The bigger question, does the device you are currently using, have an upgrade path to using the sdio or eMMC directly.
Regards,
Yes, I can do that. Not sure if I want to delay the launch by another month, we will likely ship with SD cards for data logging but will consider onboard flash for future versions.
