------Question for MT9172AP1 Please Put your question below------
This item has been identified as EOL by Microchip. The two alternatives they have given us (LE79271 & HSDLC IP CORE) do not fit the form-fit-function of the legacy communications devices used by my military clients. Is there another manufacturer that produces a product that WILL comply with the Form-fit and function of the EOL parts
It does not appear likely that there’s a drop-in replacement for this part.
As this part is on “last time buy” status, it would seem prudent to consider what your life-time needs are and place an order before the last-time-buy date, as shown on the product detail page for the MT9172AP1.
Does anyone know of another manufacturer that has something of similar form-fit-function? I cannot project the number of chips I will need as these are in the thousands of devises and maintenance is an ongoing consideration. There is currently no plan to replace the communications devices from the government side.
It should be appreciated that the item in question services a communications interface that’s been out of favor for perhaps 20 years already at this point. The likelihood of finding compatible alternatives on the market is not good, comparable perhaps to finding a pack of blank 3.5" floppy disks at one’s local electronics retailer.
Doing a last time buy and engaging with Rochester as Dave suggests are good ideas.
