Looking for DigiKey P/N for resistor with specs: 470 OHM ±5%, 1/8 W RN50
Hello @canger,
Thank you for your post.
I do not see that we have an option from the RN50 series with that description.
Our best option that we have that fits the rest of the description is 273-OJ4715E-R52CT-ND
The RN50 designation would appear to invoke MIL-PRF-10509 which prescribes a 1/20th watt power rating:
Funny thing about resistor power ratings though is that they’re entirely dependent on how one chooses to specify the measurement. That mil spec assumes a 125°C ambient, whereas typical commercial practice is to reckon things at 25°C instead, under which conditions it might well deal with 1/8th watt or better.
It would seem beneficial to have that description updated to reflect actual design intent/requirements, considering that the spec that it appears to reference isn’t exactly recent:
Failing that, I might suggest something like the MBA02040C4700FCT00.
Thank you for the responses. Does 2019-CFS1/4C471J-ND meet Series : RN50 (Military-grade version of the MIL-PRF-39017 series) requirements? Also does the MBA02040C4700FCT00 you posted meet them?
The RN50 designation does not appear in MIL-PRF-39017, regardless, the +350/-450PPM tempco listed for the CFS-xxxx product would appear to be out of range for either of the performance specifications mentioned.
The MBAxxxx part suggested is a high-stability type and of a size comparable to that referenced by the RN50 designation in the '10509 spec.
There is some ambiguity as to what exactly a person means by “meeting requirements” of a given military standard; it’s one thing to look for an item having specifications that are similar in most respects of typical interest, quite another to find an item that is produced, tested, and qualified to said specification.
If one desires a mil-spec part, procurement using the mil-spec part number is recommended.
