This Product Selection Guide contains information to help select products in the Single Board Computers (SBCs) category on DigiKey.com

Single Board Computers (SBCs) are a complete computer build on a single board with input/output, microprocessor, memory, form factor, and expansion site. The characteristics are core processor, speed, number of cores, power, cooling type, and ram. The core processors include Advantech, AMD (core, G-series, Geode, GX), ARMADA, ARM Cortex, Atom, Celeron, ColdFire, Core 2, Intel (Atom, Celeron, Core, LGA, Quark, Apollo, Pentium), Pentium, Rabbit, RK3288, Rochchip, TI Sitara, ULV Celeron, VIA Eden, Vortex, and Z180.

SelectionCharacteristics

Core Processor: Identifies the microprocessor or processor technology that serves as the primary computational engine for a board or device.

Speed: The processor clock speed of the device’s central processors.

Number of Cores: The number of separate processing cores available within the device.

Power (Watts): Typically this rating indicates the nominal amount of power you would expect the device to consume during normal operation.

Cooling Type: Describes the mechanisms for aiding heat dissipation with which a product is equipped.

Size / Dimensions: The physical dimensions of the device. Given in X by Y dimension, in Inches (Millimeters).

Form Factor: Indicates a standard mechanical/electrical interface scheme to which a device conforms, if any.

Expansion Site/Bus: Enumerates interface busses/facilities provided by a device for general purpose communications or addition of functional blocks.

RAM Capacity/Installed: Maximum amount of RAM addressable by a device / Amount of RAM installed on a device as sold and shipped.

Storage Interface: Enumerates the standardized interfaces available on a device that are typically used for connecting to data storage media.

Video Outputs: Describes the video output format(s) of devices equipped with such a capability.

Ethernet: Indicates whether or not a device includes provisions for Ethernet communications, and supported link speeds for those that do.

USB: Indicates the number and standard of Universal Serial Bus interfaces for which a device has provisions.

RS-232 (422, 485): Indicates the number of RS-xxx protocol data ports implemented on a device.

Digital I/O Lines: Indicates the number of digital input/output lines the device is equipped with.

Analog Input:Output: Indicates the number of analog input and output channels available on the device.

Watchdog Timer: Indicates the presence or absence of a watchdog timer in the device.

Contents: Indicates items included with purchase.

Operating Temperature: Recommended operating temperature, typically given in a range or as a maximum. Exceeding these temperatures may affect performance or damage the device and other system components.
