Specifically what resistor is this?

Good Evening-

I’m a novice that is trying to repair a 25 year old Elite Miracle 1 driveway gate circuit board that is acting flaky. One of the components appears to have some leakage. It is a resistor labeled on the board as R55, and, best I can tell, it is (left to right) GOLD, GREEN, BLACK, BROWN. Although from reading, I think the GOLD band is always to the right, so that would mean BROWN, BLACK, GREEN, GOLD. If it is relevant, the system is 24v DC, powered by (2) 12v batteries in series. The batteries are trickle charged by a 110v>24v AC transformer. (I guess the logic is that the system operates on batteries all the time (trickle charged) and in the event of a power outage, the gates still work.)

I am competent at soldering, but I’m not sure I understand the specs of this through hole resistor. I’ve included a photo.

@nomarkup Welcome to DigiKey TechForum!

You can use the DigiKey calculator to check the resistance value and tolerance of a 4‑band resistor.

Based on this, if you search DigiKey for a 1 MΩ, ±5% axial-type resistor, you will find the following options.
1 MOhms ±5% Through Hole Resistors | Electronic Components Distributor DigiKey

Since the size cannot be determined from the photo, please measure the actual component and use the “Size / Dimension” section to narrow down the results. In general, the physical size of a resistor is proportional to its power rating, so if the size matches, the power rating should also be appropriate.
