TE Potter&Brumfield, Relay PN PCF-124D2M,000 vs PCF-124D1M,000: What's the Difference?

TE’s Potter & Brumfield brand has been a mainstay of electromechanical relay offerings for decades, with devices like PCF-124D1M,000 present in a myriad of old equipment. This relay is obsolete however, with the newer PCF-124D2M,000 taking its place. Are these parts fully interchangeable? What makes the new model different?

The only significant difference between these two parts is that the new relay uses a silver tin oxide alloy for its plating material, rather than the older device’s silver cadmium oxide. This materials change shouldn’t be of significant concern to most ordinary applications.
